Hungary is a very cozy and friendly country; Hungarians cherish their cultural, historical and national traditions with special warmth. In Hungary, customs and traditions of past years and the realities of modern Europe are mixed.
Including, of course, family traditions are also honored by Hungarians. Marriage, both before and now, is extremely responsible.
Moreover, people who prefer a bachelor life in Hungary are still looked at with bewilderment and incomprehension, and in many families a girl who stays too late in girlhood is considered almost universal family grief.
Of course, modern young people do not try to tie the knot as soon as possible, but in general they do not envision their future without creating a strong family and having children.
For quite a long time in Hungary, survivals of the patriarchal family structure were also preserved. For example, in a number of cases, the wife could not even sit down at the same table with her husband.
In modern Hungary, including at the legislative level, the equality of women and men is clearly enshrined; in most cases, married couples do not experience any problems, respecting and supporting each other. Although, it should be noted that in some families a woman, of course, voluntarily transfers the headship to her husband, completely devoting herself to the household and raising children.
One cannot fail to note the decent and always decent relations between young Hungarians before marriage. Hungarians have aspects of good parenting in their blood. In addition, young people always treat the older generation with great respect and respect, and the Hungarians have an exceptionally careful approach to children.
As for the Hungarian tradition of marrying in a strictly defined social circle, or in some local group, this custom is not forgotten, probably only in small settlements. Church marriage in Hungary is an almost unbreakable tradition, which remains relevant today.
What the Hungarians certainly don't understand is a quiet wedding. They are very fond of noisy holidays, adore dancing, and never forget their colorful national costumes.
Probably, even several national costumes can be found in the things of every Hungarian family. For example, a beautiful and interesting rite of matchmaking is still often used in modern Hungary.
Even the speech to be delivered by the matchmaker is carefully prepared, there are quotes, including from the Bible, and verses, fragments of the writings of the older generations are recalled and used. After the matchmaking, the engagement follows.
Earlier, an engagement in Hungary meant, first of all, that the families of the bride and groom finally agreed on such a side of the upcoming marriage as property. And even now, somewhat calculating Hungarians, they prefer to discuss all monetary issues before the wedding, drawing up a marriage contract is not uncommon here.
The custom of "farewell" of future spouses to bachelorhood is still traditional, in which, of course, friends and girlfriends of the bride and groom participate. An interesting Hungarian ritual of dressing the bride in a wedding dress, which is often preserved at the present time, is considered a bad omen if the bride puts on the dress herself, so she practically does nothing, and her friends act as “dressing-ups”.
The wedding ceremony itself is fun and noisy, and the Hungarians can dance, it seems, endlessly. In general, couples dashingly dance, both before the wedding, and during the celebration, and after, on any appropriate occasion.
The so-called "money" dance of the bride is traditional: everyone who wants to dance with a barefoot newlywed is obliged to throw a coin into her shoes. It is curious that the Hungarians are also familiar with the custom of blessing young parents; for the first time, Hungarians also bring their wives into the house in their arms, and sprinkling grain on newlyweds, according to omen, means to shower them with wealth.
A wedding feast in Hungary always amazes with its abundance and variety of dishes, it is not for nothing that Hungary is famous for its wonderful cuisine and wine, familiar to every true gourmet.
Young families tend to have children quickly. Hungarians protect the life of their family, most of them are very good housewives, while modern women often manage to combine magnificent housewives, loving and caring mothers, carefully monitor the cleanliness of their home, and besides, they manage to work and even build a career.
Husbands also take care of the family, protect and respect their soulmates, doing everything so that their spouses do not need anything. Thus, comfort and warmth always reign in the house of a Hungarian family, ringing children's laughter is heard, and on weekends and holidays you can see a wonderful scene of a family dinner, followed by stormy fun: loud music and incendiary dances.
Until recently, divorce was difficult to find in Hungary. It is customary among Hungarians to make every effort to preserve the marriage. They understand how important this aspect of their life is, for most it is fundamental.
Cheating in Hungary is extremely rare: somehow it does not occur to them to put family happiness on the line. Cheating is unacceptable and is considered the most serious reason for divorce.
However, sadly, in recent years, the state of affairs in this area has changed somewhat. The divorce rate is growing steadily. Although the divorce procedure itself is quite complicated, today it is possible to divorce only through the courts.
Sociologists argue that women are the culprit, or rather, the initiators of the gap. Men, on the contrary, try to prevent such statistics and give their family a chance to find happiness and harmony.
It would be nice for the ladies to take an example from their respectable husbands. It would be great to remember and re-start reading the most important and main Hungarian custom: the creation, preservation and strengthening of a family.
